THE STORY BEHIND THE BOOK WHICH BECAME THE STORY
Ever since I was a little kid I was more comfortable with numbers than I was words. In fact, from the age of 4 through to 28 I didn't use words at all, just random sequences of numbers. Crazy right?
'Pearson, what would you like for dinner?', my mom would patiently ask. 'Twelve', I would respond. 'Nineteen', 'Forty five', 'Two hundred and three', 'Six'. You get the picture.
Whilst my numskull mother never figured them out, there were patterns in these numbers; patterns which I only partially understood myself.
I decided to devote my life to uncovering what these seemingly arbitrary numbers meant, what it was I was trying to say and to understand better why I couldn't just communicate 'normally'.
'53, 7, 99, 14: My story in words' is the result.
In it, I tell the story of an extraordinary life, where numbers have replaced words and - if I'm honest - code replaced emotions.
As far as I am aware, I am the only person in the world living with this unique condition. In '53, 7, 99, 14: My story in words' I take an unflinching look at the challenges and triumphs I've faced and offer the reader tips and suggestions as to how they too might develop and grow by emulating some of my more extreme idiosyncracies.
As part of the publicity tour for the book's release, a journalist from TechCrunch recently asked if I saw my condition as a blessing or a curse?
'Fifty-eight', I replied.
And I guess that says it all really.

In my daily sessions - either via Zoom or face to face - I work with clients towards a really simple goal - to gradually replace words with numbers.
The experience is immersive, sometimes exhausting but occasionally fun.
In short it works like this - I don't use any words at all and just bark out random numbers. You have to figure out what I mean. It really is as simple as that.
Yes, it can be time-consuming, yes, candidates are often left tearful and exhausted. By after two hundred weeks of intensive one-to-one sessions I - for one - occasionally feel like some kind of progress is made, even if it is impossible to quantify. But the best things can't be quantified, right? Like a sunset. Or a puppy. Or a taco or whatever.
Anyway, back to the course - the cost is high - I am upfront and transparent about that - but the benefits can perhaps be significant.
Clients typically commit to the full four years and need to be prepared to work with me directly, seven days a week, 8am - 11pm.
